TOPIC OF MY SESSION - “VOICES OF STREET PEOPLE: AN OPEN STUDIO EXHIBITION OF PAINTINGS AND DRAWINGS BY BRIGHT KONTOR OSEI”
The Black Solidarity Day Social Justice Teach-In is an annual event held at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. This year, I am honored to participate for the first time, contributing a presentation that reflects my engagement with themes of equity, identity, and collective empowerment. Below is a description of my presentation.
A temporary display of paintings and drawings that celebrates the stories of Black street people from Ghana, which form the core foundation of Bright Kontor Osei’s studio practice. Osei, the new Assistant Professor of Painting and Drawing in the Art Department, will be present in his studio in Myers 212 to talk about his practice. The audience will also have the opportunity to ask questions and experience the behind-the-scenes of the artist’s studio and see how the work unfolds.
